The man knitted his own gown. Of course he did.

Tom Daley, five Olympic medals deep and retired since winning silver in Paris in 2024, sat down in Plastique Tiara's chair for an episode of her YouTube series Plastique's Beauty Bar, posted on Sunday under the title "Tom Daley Goes From Father to Mother." It was his first time in full drag. Plastique, who came up on Drag Race in 2019 and tied for fourth on All Stars 9, has previously painted Bianca Del Rio and Katya, so the bar for "guest who walks out unrecognizable" was already set by professionals.

Daley cleared it. The dress was a mint gown he made by hand, which Attitude and HuffPost UK both describe and which is, frankly, the most on-brand thing a man has ever done. Somewhere in the episode he admits that the first time he encountered drag queens he found them genuinely scary, which is the correct response and also the beginning of every great love story.

Then came the reveal. He told Plastique, per HuffPost, that he did not know what he was expecting to look like, "but it was not this!" His husband, the Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, got the look on FaceTime and, as Attitude reports, announced: "Oh my god, I'm straight now." Then, recovering: "I always knew you were going to make a beautiful woman, but this is exceptional."

Lance, we have all been there. One good wig and a contour and suddenly the whole marriage is up for review.

Daley also floated doing the school run in full face, which, for the record, we fully endorse. The two moved to Los Angeles with their two sons, and we can only imagine the drop-off line has never been better served.
