Here is a thing that can now happen to a comedian: you do a bit about someone in a room in Ridgefield, Washington, and someone in the room messages them about it.

That is how Briel Adams-Wheatley found out she was in Nikki Glaser's act. Adams-Wheatley, 27, is a trans beauty creator born without limbs who posts adaptive makeup tutorials, with 1.4 million followers on Instagram and 6 million on TikTok, per Yahoo Entertainment. Both Yahoo and PinkNews report that a fan who saw the Ridgefield show sent her a DM describing the joke, which was about her transition and her body, and which we are not going to repeat for you.

Adams-Wheatley posted the DM to her Instagram Stories, tagged Glaser and asked, in so many words, why Glaser was discussing what was in her pants. Yahoo adds that she said she had bought tickets to Glaser's November show and was now rethinking them.

Hours later came a second screenshot, a DM from Glaser. According to both outlets, Glaser apologized, said she should have reached out first, said she hates anti-trans jokes of every kind and was disgusted to think she had added to that rhetoric, and said the bit was dumb and she would lose it immediately. Yahoo reports she also said the fan's version was not an accurate account of the joke.

For the record, a comedian taking a joke out of her act because the person in it asked is not the death of comedy. It is called editing, and the roast queen of America knows perfectly well how to do it.
