Paloma’s Freezing

This one is for all my WLW situationships where your girlfriend friend (?) has decided to start talking to you again recently and you aren’t “dating” but you aren’t single. You’re hanging out at your place and things start getting steamy. No, not like that, physically hot. She asks for a drink to cool down and suddenly you’re in the kitchen making the only blended drink you know how to make (with the help of gaywater.com ofc). This is a frozen paloma.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Gay Water (Grapefruit flavor)
- 1 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 1/2 a Grapefruit
- Ice
Instructions:
- Blend It Up: In a blender, combine Gay Water, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, grapefruit and a handful of ice.
- Serve: Blend until smooth and slushy, then pour into a glass. Garnish with a lime wedge for a refreshing twist.
why it works
a paloma is tequila plus grapefruit soda, so gay water grapefruit is basically a paloma waiting to happen. blending it with real grapefruit and lime turns it into a slushie with actual fruit in it, and the simple syrup is there to keep the ice from muting the flavor.
make it for a crowd
frozen drinks are best in batches anyway. a full blender makes about 4: 8 oz gay water grapefruit, 4 oz tequila, 4 oz lime juice, 4 oz simple syrup, two grapefruits' worth of segments and ice to fill. blend, taste, add ice if it's loose.
swaps
cut the simple syrup in half and it's noticeably lighter. mezcal instead of tequila makes it smoky. no blender? shake everything with ice and pour over crushed ice for a "frozen-ish" version.
glass & garnish
serve it in a rocks glass or a stemless wine glass, straight from the blender. a salt rim is optional but very on-theme; a lime wedge and a thin grapefruit wheel finish it. it holds its slush for about ten minutes, which is exactly how long it takes to decide whether she's staying.
gay water is 80 calories, 0 sugar and 4% abv per can, so most of the calories in any of these come from what you add. must be 21+. drink responsibly.
