Gottmik, who became the first trans man to compete on RuPaul's Drag Race, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Burbank on Sept. 16, police told two outlets. The news only surfaced this weekend.
A Burbank Police Department representative told Entertainment Weekly that officers responded to a collision near Verdugo Avenue and Hollywood Way involving a black Porsche and several parked vehicles, that Gottmik, whose real name is Kade Gottlieb, was its "sole occupant," and that he "displayed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication." EW says the department's public arrest log lists a DUI charge. TMZ, which broke the story citing law enforcement sources, put the time at around 4:50 p.m. and said the Porsche hit a parked Toyota Camry hard enough to push it into two more cars. TMZ says he was released the next day. Neither outlet reported any injuries.
That is an arrest log, not a conviction. We could find no court filing, and Gottmik has not said anything publicly. Both outlets asked his representatives for comment.
He shared third place on season 13 in 2021, came fourth on All Stars 9, and, per EW, is expected to judge the second season of King of Drag. On X, a chunk of the weekend went to an argument about pronouns (he out of drag, she in it), which is the most Drag Race possible way to process a car crash. The rest went to jokes. No one has reported an injury, which is the only good news here. Call an Uber.
