A masked man who thinks he is the most beautiful person alive, plays a claw, and climbs over anyone in his way. Orville Peck was born to play Vega, and he would like you to know he has also dated him.

Peck, who covered Playgirl last month, makes his movie debut in Kitao Sakurai's Street Fighter, in theaters Oct. 16, with Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang and 50 Cent. Them asked him how it felt to play a character who "kind of embodies gay wrongs." His answer, about Vega's only motive, is the best review the character has ever gotten: "He just wants to be elevated up to this superiority. There's some gays like that. I've met them. I've dated them."

the gay boy rules

He picked Vega as a kid, too, playing the 1987 game against his older brothers. "I always played Vega or Chun-Li," he told Them. "That's the rules as a gay boy, I think." Now he is, in his words, "best friends with Chun-Li," meaning Liang. "I manifested," he said, "and that's powerful."

He trained to fight for "almost six months in total" and played Vega with "this elegant, cat feel. If anything, maybe like a Catwoman thing?" And the moment where Guile, played by Cody Rhodes, seems thrown by Vega was, Peck said, "actually Cody Rhodes' idea."

asexual last week, our ex this week

Eight days earlier he gave Attitude a different reading. "I think I played him as in love with himself," he said then. "Most of all, I think he's sort of asexual." The two answers don't actually fight. A man so in love with himself he has no room for anyone else is exactly the guy you dated for four months in 2019, and you know it.
